Insurance and Your Annual Exam

Your Annual Wellness Exam

Your covered services for annual wellness exams may have changed due to the Affordable Care Act.

An annual wellness visit is a general check-up designed to keep patients on a healthy path and to identify any health issues early or prevent them all together.

An Annual Exam includes:

  • General physical exam
  • Pelvic and Breast exam
  • Review of past, social and family history
  • Review of current medications, including birth control
  • Evaluation of need for health screening tests
  • Review of immunizations

Your provider may order labs that in the past were paid at 100% however the services may now go towards your deductible.  Some routine tests that may be ordered include:

  • Pap Smear
  • Urinalysis
  • Cholesterol
  • Glucose
  • CBC
  • TSH
  • Vitamin D

If you do not want routine labs please inform the provider at the time of your visit.

An annual exam visit does not include a discussion of new problems or detailed review of chronic or new conditions. If you are experiencing a specific problem, or would like to establish a care treatment plan for a chronic condition, then we will set up a separate appointment with you so we are able to devote the proper amount of time to any new or specific health problems you may be experiencing.
